Starting your own internet home business can be a very fulfilling experience. It offers many new and exciting challenges, with the hopes of providing financial security for you and your family. To this end, a home business also requires a serious commitment and can easily consume a large portion of your time if you don’t plan properly.

While searching the internet for business opportunities, you’ve undoubtedly encountered claims of how working only a few hours per week can result in a successful home business. Although it is true that after your business is established you could potentially devote less time towards it, this is not normally the case in the beginning.

If you’re new to internet marketing or the home business industry, you should initially plan on spending at least 2-3 hours per day researching your products and developing your website. You should try committing even more time if you’re not working a day job or have other obligations prohibiting you from doing so.

Believe it or not, one trap to avoid is spending too much time on your business It’s very easy to become immersed in your business because there is always something to do–a new product to review, updating your website, responding to emails, etc. Before you know it, you won’t have time for anything else.

This can be especially problematic when you have a family. For many of us, the benefit of spending more quality time with our family was the reason we started our home business to begin with! Because so many new home business owners struggle between spending time with their families while trying to get their business off the ground, I offer the following tips.

1. Take one entire day off per week. Yes, this means NO WORK. Spend time with your family and friends and as far away from your business as possible. Believe me, the business won’t go anywhere. Plus, the day off will help to alleviate burn out. If you’ve worked more hours than usual in a particular week, take two days off.

2. Set aside 1-2 hours every evening for family time. From 5:30-7:00, for example, you could have dinner with the family, help the kids with their homework and squeeze in time for walking the dog. If possible, try to choose this same time everyday. A structured schedule will allow you to better plan your time.

3. Stop working at a specific time every evening and stick to it. For example, you can turn off your computer every night at 10:00 p.m. You can use this time to catch up on the news and tend to other personal matters. This is also your time to relax and unwind from a hard day’s work.

Learning to manage your time is critical to a successful business and living a full and happy life. There’s nothing wrong with being dedicated to your business, but your family should be your first commitment. Make time for your spouse, children, parents and friends now, because before you know it, you’ll be wondering where the time went.

If you are a work at home beginner then begining as an affiliate is THE most lucrative means to start making money fast. But being an affiliate and being a successful affiliate who’s making money are two different things. You’ll be surprised that 87% of affiliates don’t make more than $175 a month. Are you one of these struggling affiliate marketers? Here are 7 reasons why you could be among those who don’t make money.

1) Saturated Market

One of the most common mistakes that many affiliates make is to join an affiliate program that promotes a product that targets a highly saturated market. That means that the target market you are trying to sell to is full of others who are trying to sell the same thing. Areas such as “internet marketing” and “website traffic” are areas that relatively new affiliates should be weary of since it’s very hard to sell anything in these markets unless you’ve already made a name for yourself. Stay away from these highly saturated markets and find “niche” markets that you can easily dominate and promote to. This will greatly help you make a profit.

2) No interest in product

This is a mistake that many affiliates do without knowing it. They simply join an affiliate program because it’s “cool” or because someone else told them to. And they figure that by being an affiliate they will get the same benefits. Don’t be fooled. If you don’t have a personal interest in the product you are promoting you won’t put in the effort to actively promote it. And this will ruin your chances of success. If you like what you promote, then it shows through your websites or your written words and this positive influence is transferred to your prospective buyers as well. Make sure you join an affiliate website that promotes a product that interests you.

3) Low profitability

Many affiliates join an affiliate program simply because the payout per sale is huge. Often a single sale might pay you $99.00. And you think it’s a good product to promote. But you forget the fact that to earn $99.00 you have to sell a product that’s $299.00. Thus a single sale could be hard to make as compared to a much lower priced item. Therefore concentrate on joining an affiliate program that pays a higher percentage yet has a product price that is low or moderate. A 50% commission of a product that costs $50 is a good deal because you will be able to sell more of that product that the high priced ones.

4) No pre-selling

Many affiliates simply advertise their affiliate URL. They put their entire faith on the main affiliate website that they are sending people to. Thus your success is in someone else’s hands. Why take the risk? Why not pre-sell the idea of the product and get the prospect into a buying mood by preparing them for what they will find at the affiliate main site? A well constructed product review can be the ideal pre-sell for any product. Advertise your website that reviews the product and let the prospect visit the main site via your website. Once you “prep” them up, the sale is far more easier to make.

5) No Link cloaking

As I mentioned before, many affiliates use their affiliate URLs in advertising. This means that their affiliate Ids are plainly visible to anyone who wants to replace it with their own and thus steal a sale from you. Thus you must employ some form of link cloaking or encryption so that your affiliate links don’t get stolen or hijacked. Why chance it when you can prevent link theft?

6) No focus

A common mistake of an affiliate is to join an affiliate network and start promoting ALL of the network’s products at once. This “shot gun” affect can shoot down your profits simply due to the fact that you have no focus and thus your advertising efforts are wasted. Always pick one or two related products and maintain your focus. This way you can tune your marketing efforts without the other product cannibalizing your profits.

7) No targeted traffic

And lastly the most common mistake is to have no targeted traffic. Website traffic means nothing unless you get targeted traffic. Simply joining click exchanges or traffic exchanges will not make your affiliate checks soar. You simply MUST employ methods of FREE targeted traffic generation and keep generating traffic in this manner if you want your profits to increase as well.

There you have it. If you can avoid those 7 mistakes, then you will become a Super Affiliate that finally earns the kind of money you’ve always dreamed of.

Multi-Level Marketing Lies You Should Know

Is it true?

Much have been said about multi-level marketing (MLM) of the online variety. While a lot of people claim that it is a marvelous way of earning an income in the World Wide Web, an equal number of people condemn it for so many reasons that are borne from the fears they have with something as seemingly novel as online MLM programs.

Which of these fears are true, and which are false? A closer study on some of the issues raised against online MLM programs will reveal the truth behind the subject.

1. Online MLM is a get rich quick scheme. It is not. You will have to invest some time and effort to achieve the highest possible success in this field. Online MLM will not gain for you some passive income, at least not immediately. You will have to develop your network and fill it up with dedicated individuals from whose efforts you will earn lower tiered commissions.

2. Online MLM is a pyramid scheme. It is not. Online MLM is a creative kind of direct selling. Basically, a person is a customer of the MLM program, though unlike other setups, he is given the opportunity to earn because of his purchase.

3. Online MLM is illegal. It is not. If online MLM is illegal, direct selling should likewise be considered as unlawful. Online MLM, after all, is a form of direct selling by its very nature.

4. Online MLM is just as unstable as any pyramid scheme. This is a falsity. Pyramid schemes fail because they do not have capital to rely on. They depend on the money they could derive from the multi-tiered investors. Online MLM is based on real products that are actually sold to consumers. There is a real economy involved, hence ensuring the strength of the legs that support this kind of system.

5. Online MLM requires recruiting. It does not. The term recruiting is quite misleading. You just have to pre-sell the MLM programs products to earn some commissions. Consequently, the people you manage to refer will become members of your down line, and if they decide to pursue the earning opportunities presented by the MLM program itself, you could also earn from their activities.

6. Online MLM requires steep financial investments. This is partly true, though the adjective steep is quite relative, as well as questionable. You will have to purchase a package prepared by the MLM program. But this is a condition precedent to the earning opportunities that you will gain access to. Consider it as your enrollment fee. The price of these packages vary, nonetheless, it is a onetime fee which you are sure to recoup after referring three or more sales.

7. Online MLM is just a fad. Multi-level marketing has been practiced by many enterprises since the 60s. With the advent of the internet, an online variety is but the logical evolution of this strategy. Surely, something that has become a popular sales technique for such a long time cannot be considered as a mere fad.

8. Online MLM programs are scams. Though some fraudulent companies use MLM programs to hide their devious schemes, most MLM programs are legit. The responsibility to determine credible MLM programs from dishonest ones would lie on the shoulders of the enrollee. Due diligence is required before committing to any undertaking, after all.

Online MLM programs offer great opportunities for amazing income which you could savor and enjoy. Hesitations, of course, are always healthy in endeavors like this. But try to investigate on your fears and you will discover that online MLM programs are safe investments that hold so much promise.

Throughout, fairly recent history, about sixty years or so, multi-level marketing has been a prominent fixture in the business world. It all began way back in the middle 1900′s. Companies realized that their sales staff was generally made up of family members and friends of other sales members. The appeal was the fact that they could get products at wholesale prices, much cheaper than buying from a sales representative; therefore, they became members of the sales staff themselves.

Then companies began to realize they were easily finding several sales members that could sell a few products. Whereas, finding a top sales person who could sell in large amounts was much harder. Therefore, after analyzing these aspects they created a structure that combined the two aspects into one, along with compensation for sales, creating the very first Multi-Level Marketing company. With this new structure, they encouraged current sales staff to recruit new sales people. In the beginning, this was typically their friends and family members. Later, the practice was extended to any satisfied customer, giving them the equal right to make sales, buy products at wholesale costs, and recruit new sales members.

With this new structure, people were becoming sales members, selling products, and recruiting new sales member to make money. Groups were rewarded for their sales as a whole; this is where the downline aspect came into play many years later.

Everything has its good and bad

Of course, as with any new concept, especially one such as Multi-Level marketing, there were their downfalls, setbacks, and major image tarnishing, as other people sought ways to implement the idea into their own lives. This created the conception of fraudulent Multi-Level Marketing schemes. The very first known to the world, was in the form of a chain letter. This began shortly after World War 1 ended, where a chain letter sent across the nation, ask the recipient to send a specific amount of money to the person on the short list of names at the bottom of the letter. This amount was anywhere between 10 cents to 1 dollar. The chain letter led the way to what is known as pyramid schemes. This scheme occurs when there are no real services or products are offered for sale by the company.

Today’s Multi-Level Marketing

Today, Multi-Level Marketing is a thriving business that extends all across the globe from the United States to Japan and everywhere in between. The international Multi-Level Marketing industry is a 100 Billion Dollar industry that is showing no signs of slowing down. Multi-Level Marketing can even been seen in many of today’s top company such as Amway, Discovery Toys, AT&T, MCI, Sprint, Colgate, Gillette, Melaleuca, Mary Kay, Avon, and even Encyclopedia Britannica, just to name a few of the most recognizable names in the Multi-Level Marketing Industry.

There are a great many different products available for sale in multi-level marketing such as household cleaners, vacuum cleaners, nutrition drinks, diet drinks, vitamins, and cosmetics. In fact, these industries were invented thanks to multi-level marketing. Both the company and the representative can benefit from this technique.

The Company

The company benefits because it is not required to pay the sales representative until the sales of services or products have been made. This means they save money all the way around and run their company in a more efficient manner. For example, the costs of distribution are decreased because the product is not sent out until paid for. Furthermore, millions of dollars are saved in advertisements as well. Then you think even further in terms of costs and the company is saving money by not having to payroll based on hourly pay, in general no benefits are offered, and office, travel, and utility costs are dramatically reduced. It creates an efficient way to run a business all the way around.

The Sales Representative

The sales representative benefits in many ways as well. They have the potential to make as much or as little money as they want. Essentially, multi-level marketing is a work at home business. This leaves the sales representative the ability to control all aspects of their own home-based business. They can set their own hours, work as little or as much as they would like. There is no boss hovering over your every move. Many people like this idea because it leaves more time to spend with their family and they can work in their pajamas in the comfort of their own home, if they so desire.

Wrap it up

In conclusion, there are many reasons you should be considering a multi-level marketing company, just a few are outlined within this article. If you are looking to join a multi-level marketing company, do your research, talk to other friends and family members, and understand all aspects before deciding on any one company.
